With 20 years of experience in powder coating, Precision Powder Coating Inc can help you with projects and products of various sizes. By sharing our three-step powder coating process to Calgary businesses, we hope to show you how we go about working with the product you bring to us.
First, we prepare the surface, apply the powder, then cure it.
CLEANING
Depending on the size and the material of your product, we may be required to sand blast it or use chemical cleaning. We must remove any oils, metal oxides, or other soils before applying any powder. To do this, we either use a four-stage dip tank or steam generator for proper pre-treatment featuring an alkaline wash, fresh water rinse, iron phosphate, ending with a fresh water rinse. By removing old finishes, scale, rust or other manufacturing residues, we help prevent any premature coating failures.
POWDER APPLICATION
After properly preparing and cleaning your product, we apply the powder in our spray booth, where it is held in place electrostatically until curing. In addition, with 100’s of colors to choose from, you can view more samples by looking at our color chart
CURING
This curing process will vary in time depending on the material and its thickness. The product is cured in the oven at 400-500 degreed Fahrenheit for up to 20 minutes. However, if any material cannot withstand this temperature, they must be removed. Once the product has cooled, it is ready.
